    Surpassed my Expectations, Again!
I have to admit, I was very pleasantly surprised! NBT is fabulous, but not all veggies are created equal. I like raw carrots, but can't stand cooked carrots. However, they have great nutrients, so I was wanting to add some carrots to my homemade soups, but hopefully without the dreaded heavy, stewy cooked carrot bitterness. I confess I wasn't sure if this was possible, but another reviewer mentioned her husband would only eat cooked carrots if they were dime-sized or smaller and liked these, so I had some hope these might work. WOW! All the sweet flavor of raw carrots I love, no bitterness or dark mushy flavor when cooked fully in soup or my chicken and dumplings! A whole new world of possibilities has opened up. NBT does it again!

Almost too much of a good thing!
When you open the bag, you're hit with the fragrance of carrots. It's intoxicating. Add dried carrots to any dish which calls for carrots --soups, sauces, entrees... they work for everything. The only problem I've had is you can easily go overboard. So keep it to no more than 1/4 cup for a dish serving two people; anything more than that will be too sweet.

    Works for us!
These dried carrots are the perfect size. They cook up well, are tender, and were just what I was looking for.

    Just what I needed!
These work great for me. I love the cross cut carrots, but my husband doesn't like cooked carrots if they are too large in size. If they are anywhere near dime size he picks them out and won't eat them. So these are working great for me as I throw them in almost every casserole or soup I make and he doesn't complain because they are small enough. Thank you!

Air Dried Carrot Flakes

Easy to Prepare

  • Add dry carrots while slow cooking soups, stews, chilies, and other foods with sufficient liquid content.
  • For most other applications, hydrate using 1 part dry carrots and 4.5 parts water.
  • Bring to a boil.
  • Then simmer 10 minutes.
  • Add additional water if needed.

Yield — 1 oz equals about 1/4 cup dry. Generally, air dried vegetables double in volume when hydrated.

Rehydration Ratio — 1 lb of air dried carrot flakes, once rehydrated, equals approximately 4.5 lbs of fresh prepared chopped carrots.

Storage — Best if used within 18 months. Store tightly sealed in a dry location away from sunlight.
