North Bay Trading Co. has a high quality selection of retail and bulk freeze dried fruit — no added sugar and no preservatives such as sulfites.
North Bay Trading's bagged freeze dried food is packaged in high quality resealable foil pouches with moisture absorbent pack to ensure very good shelf life and freshness after initial opening.
Please note varieties and cuts of freeze dried fruit not listed on our website may be available by special order in the large box sizes.
What is Freeze Dried?
Fresh fruits are placed in a refrigerated vacuum, where, without thawing, they are dehydrated — ice disappears in the form of escaping water vapor. Cell structure remains intact, which results in excellent retention of flavor, color, shape, and nutritional value.
Fruit which is "dried," but not "freeze dried," is generally made in other processes which cost less but add sweeteners — often water content is simply replaced with sugar.
