Review by: KarenTart but good!These cherries are a little tart, but cherries usually are tart. I re-hydrated them and made a cherry pie. My church family loved the pie and asked where I got the filling. That was a great test to pass! Thanks for making available great foods to snack on!

Review by: wunderfool1Simply AMAZING!!!!!!!!!!!!If you like cherry pie, then you will just LOVE LOVE LOVE these freeze dried cherries! I ahev eaten lots and lots of freeze dried fruits, and these are by far the best. They are so full of flavor, and taste so fresh. The "crunchiness " is very enjoyable as it sends the message to my brain that I am snacking, but I would eat these over potato chips or preztels any day!!!!! I enjoy tart tastes and for those who also do you simply cannot go wrong with these. They are so good I am half tempted to order the 30 pound bag all for myself, and order my family their own bag.

Review by: JJ2007Yes, They're Tart, But They Work!I bought a small portion of these tart cherries last summer when I was just beginning to learn about freeze-dried foods, and their excellent shelf-stable properties. Although these cherries are truly tart, their medicinal value far outweighs any complaint that I might offer--A daily serving of Tart Cherries is absolutely the best natural remedy for all arthritis/gout troubles! These will remain a staple in my diet from here on out.

They left a strange aftertaste in my mouth, which I have not had from other cherries I have ordered in the past from other companies. I have not tried re-hydrating them or cooking with them yet, to see if they taste better after cooking. I ordered 30 pounds, and it filled 3 of the 6-gallon buckets with the recloseable mylar liners in them.

Easy to Prepare
Note that each tart cherry is freeze dried whole — Remove any remaining pits before serving.
- Use dry as a healthy snack, as an addition to trail mixes, and as a crunchy topping for cereals and desserts.
- For most other applications, hydrate by soaking for 5 minutes in a generous amount of cold or hot water (hot water works slightly better). Then drain.
Yield — 1 oz equals about 1 cup dry with very low moisture content.
Rehydration Ratio — 1 lb of freeze dried whole cherries, once rehydrated, equals approximately 8 lbs of fresh prepared tart cherries.
Storage — Best if used within 24 months of purchase. Store tightly sealed while minimizing exposure to high humidity and heat.
